Bathroom Vanity Tips

Many people, when starting a bathroom remodel, will start with a new bathroom vanity. A new vanity can completely update the look of your bathroom and offset a world of other decorating sins.
Bathroom vanities come in all shapes and sizes. This article will explain some of your options when shopping for a new bath vanity.
First of all it's important to realize that there is no one "right" vanity for you. Granted, if you're decorating your home in a classic, antique-style, you may not want to choose a modern style vanity (then again maybe you would!).
But overall, you can't choose a vanity that is 'wrong'. You have a lot of options. Here are some of them:
Double vs Single Vessel Vanities - While most vanities come with 1 sink (called single-vessel), double vessel vanities (with 2 sinks) are growing more popular.
Single vessel vanities are more appropriate for your main floor bathroom or an upstairs guest bathroom. Double vessel vanities are popular with large master bathrooms. They give that larger, more luxurious feel. Many people also buy them for kids bathrooms as it gives more than one child a chance to brush and wash at once.

Wood Vanities - These are becoming more popular. A wood vanity can come in everything from antique-style to modern. You can find cherry, oak, espresso and other colors in both single and double sink styles.
You can also find stone, porcelain and even glass vanities.
Styles - You can get several different styles including antique-looking, modern looking or even transitional.
Each one gives a different feel and it depends on which look you're going for. You can get antique looking vanities for an rich, moneyed look or a modern vanity with a vessel sink to give that chic, clean look.
You can get pedestal style vanities, floating wall-mounted designs or free-standing units with built-in storage for towels, cloths and other accessories.
Price - While prices vary, you can find vanities for as low as $200 up to $2000+.
While you can get a good deal if you know where to shop (see our article on bathroom vanities for a list of discount vanities stores), you do get what you pay for. A high end vanity can give a luxurious, warm feel to your bathroom (even if you skimp elsewhere).

Some popular names in bathroom vanities are Cole & Co, Danze, Ronbow, Kohler and American Standard. For a list of places to shop for your perfect bathroom vanity see our article on Bathroom Vanities.
